Yes, we have recycled an old satellite dish into a work of art. Drop by to see our sunflower high on the bank behind the nursery. (Coming from Spartanburg Highway, you should be able to see it soon after you turn onto Nelson Lane!) Now that’s an innovative way to recycle a totally useless piece of old technology.
Speaking of recycling, we haven’t posted this on the website yet, but please do not throw out your black nursery pots. We will take any black nursery pots, whether they came from us or not, and try to recycle them. We certainly do not want them returning to the landfill and our environment!

Did you know that you can easily turn up to 5 pounds of food scraps EACH week into a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer for your growing plants? And in a space about the size of two shoe boxes? It’s sustainable gardening at its best, and it’s called worm composting (also called vermicomposting).
We have ready to use worm composting kits that include:
- 1 pound of red wiggler composting worms
- the bedding
- the container
All you do is add the Garbage!
(Hint: bring in this month’s coupon toward your compost bin purchase!)
You’ve probably heard of heirloom tomatoes, but did you know that there are many more types of heirloom plants that you can grow? Baker Creek carries one of the largest selections of seeds from the 19th century, including many Asian and European varieties, and you can get them right here in Hendersonville at Garden Gate Nursery! Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company is committed to providing a better, safer food supply and to fight gene-altered “Frankenfood” and so are we! Come in now for the best selection and you’ll be ready when it’s time to start your seedlings in the spring. Don’t forget that you can use this month’s coupon for your purchase too!
